Joan designed a red wooden suitcase theatre on which children could stage performances with small (10") marionettes. These were sold by Heals and also by a well known Wimbledon toyshop. The theatres were designed to display a new range of puppets called the Lilliput range.

The Lilliput range of puppets were designed by Ron and the resin parts poured by John Lee. Later these were adapted to become Pelham's 'Lily' range of characters.
